2BS achieved an incredible increase of 47% in valid certificates in 2023. This notable expansion is attributed primarily to the introduction of the 2BSvs – biogas certification, marking a decisive milestone within the biomethane industry. - 2BS continues to gain support and engagement from key stakeholders. An impressive 78% of our esteemed customers come from the biofuel supply chain. Additionally, 22% of our customers represent the growing biogas supply chain, underlining the increasing range of industries committed to sustainable practices.
- The financial aspects of 2BS remain robust, with operating income primarily derived from fees paid by 967 certified operators from 21 countries. Moreover, the association is proud to collaborate with six certification bodies, further amplifying its global reach and impact.

About 2BS – Biomass, Biofuel Sustainability
2BS supports fuel and biomass producers and traders in their sustainability certification. For over 10 years, 2BS has supported virtuous agricultural approaches and developed technical know-how in partnership with experts from the agricultural world.
The association offers specifications that are simple and effective to implement. The 2BS certification is recognized by the European Commission under RED II (Renewable Energy Directive). This certification gives sustainable players access to new markets.
In 2024, 2BS issued its thousandth certificate.
